John Zubak Biography
John Zubak has worked in the control and instrumentation industry sector for almost 30 years covering a number of positions within Cummins, Siemens, Invensys, Gensym Corp., Vignette Corp., Rockwell Automation and UReason. A number of these roles involved the niche end of ‘advanced control’ technology employing Expert System, neural networks and other complimentary leading-edge technologies. In his current position as Managing Director, John represents the UK and Ireland subsidiary of UReason International. The company has developed a third generation expert system technology providing a capability with a focus on intelligent alarm management and real-time operational advisories.
Synopsis - Raising the Alarm
UReason will explore the challenges facing control room operations in handling alarm, event and historical data and information. With the advent of modern control systems the number of alarms facing operators has increased significantly .This is further driven by the advent of low cost sensors and wireless technologies resulting in increasing amounts of event and alarm data. Human factors studies demonstrate that it is difficult for the human brain to cope with more than 6 or 8 items at any one time. The information overload has lead to human errors, unwanted upsets and even fatal incidents. UReason has developed OASYS-AM, the next generation alarm management system to address these issues. The presentation will cover how this technology is used to capture best practice and experience in an real-time integrated environment using topological models and intelligent rules. It will also address how the tools can help with the development of an EEMUA compliant alarm philosophy. |
